trading cards

I've been invited to participate in an artist’s exchange of trading cards between Manitoba and Albertan poets and artists.

This is how it works:

ARTIST TRADING CARDS
are miniature works of art created on 2 ½ X 3 ½ inch or 64 X 89 mm card stock. For poets, think of these in terms of being tiny broad sheets meeting the above measurements. ATCs are typically one-sided, with information about the artist on the reverse. POETRY TRADING CARDS would feature a short poem, appropriate to the size of the card, possibly decorated by the poet as the poet sees fit. Contact info and info about the poet could be featured on the back.

To participate, poets will supply a specified number of trading cards. The same, or different poems could be featured. If featuring the same poem, please number the cards, as you would a broadsheet. In exchange, for their PTCs, poets would be given an equal number of PTCs and ATCs from participants. This can be a fun and interesting way to see what other art and poetry is currently being produced in Canada.

My cards, which will feature recent poems and photos, are due in a little less than a month...very exciting!

Thanks to Sharon Caseburg (and her sister, a fibre artist from Alberta) for organizing this trade.

Is this something that SK poets might be interested in?

ATCs are cool, indeed. Have fun trading!

I've had a poem on a card. It was a collaboration with a Lumsden artist on her series on consumerism.

Anita - Though I can take no credit for it, I also think it's a great idea.

Ken - Yes. No. Probably the cost of the paper it's printed on...

Berlynn - What an interesting idea...a collectible that is against consumerism (i.e. collecting). Do you have any left? Do you want to trade?
