mushrooming

All photos Assiniboine Forest, Winnipeg, MB. April 2, 2007.

(Was more than usually encumbered for these ones...

For the first, the tree - whose trunk was thorned and pierced by thumbnail-sized mushrooms - held me up while I held up baby...who had been wrapped and bundled against the cold and then strapped into a baby backpack.

For the second, since I had 30 plus living-and-breathing pounds on my back, I was forced to sit in the crumbly old snow to get my normal low-lying crouch-over-it pics....)

isn't the backpack a saviour? That and the hiking boots kept me sane during my kids' first years. Hey, I miss you!
