* Winnipeg author Miriam Toews will headline a fundraiser for a Brandon University's creative writing program.

* Paul Redekop, an associate professor of conflict resolution studies at Menno Simons College at the University of Winnipeg, has just released his first book with Waterloo's Herald Press.

* The Manitoba Historical Society has announced the shortlists for its Margaret McWilliams Awards, which celebrate books on the history of Manitoba.

* Local young adult fantasy author Rae Bridgman has a busy few weeks ahead of her, with a workshop for young people and a book launch in the works.
