* The Cinematheque will screen two films over the coming weeks that draw heavily on literature.

* For the fifth week in a row, Gwen Smid's Mary's Atlas: Mary Meets Manitoba, is the bestselling book for children on McNally Robinson Bookseller's Winnipeg list.

* This year's Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival, running July 16-27, will include two well-known spoken word artists.

* Journalist Alexandre "Sacha" Trudeau has signed a deal for two non-fiction books with Douglas & McIntyre, reports trade publication Quill & Quire.

* A high school teacher in Indiana has been suspended for 18 months after teaching The Freedom Writers Diary (1999), reports the Guardian.
