We unearthed our rainboots today and went walking in the forest. It was the kind of day where you wear a shell and ALSO wind a woolen scarf around your neck. And shiver until you're too hot and are forced to peel off a layer or two...
At first, there was only the faint meltwater circles around aspen tree trunks. And I tried to get a picture of those negative spaces but failed, the same way I always try and fail to get a picture of the way trees look when you walk among them.
But then there were a few strips and patches of bare ground. And it was such a goddamn relief to not be slip-sliding around on granular snow.
It was equally fine to ferret out a few of last year's mushrooms. To listen to Anna talk about all the 'scoops' she was finding on Assiniboine Forest's trails...
