M and I got childcare and even changed shifts around to do this...it goes without saying I'll be toting pics and poetry from the forest.

VIDEO POOL and the WNDX FESTIVAL PRESENT: Creating Personal Narrative with Found Footage in Video
Friday, October 5 from 1pm to 5pm
Is an image worth a thousand words? No: words are free and images are mute. In this workshop we'll make videos based on image and text. We're not interested in using text to analyze or critique images. Rather, the texts will speak in spite of, beside, or through the images. Bring images - moving or still, digital files or real objects - and we'll, through a series of exercises, compose texts to go with them. No experience with film or video is necessary.
INSTRUCTOR - Steve Reinke is an artist and writer best known for his monologue-based video essays, which are widely screened, collected and exhibited. He lives in Toronto and Chicago, where he is associate professor of Art Theory & Practice at Northwestern University. In 2006 he was awarded the Bell Canada Prize in Video Art. He has edited a number of books, including, with Chris Gehman, the anthology "The Sharpest Point: Animation at the End of Cinema." Coach House recently published a book of his scripts "Everybody Loves Nothing." He is represented in Toronto by Birch Libralato Gallery.
