the damage, day one

Day One, Aqua Books.

Surrounded by 20,000 books and unwilling to spend the sum total of the day's wage, I only bought the titles that I spied out of the corner of my eye and HAD to have:
Natural History Notebook by the National History Museum of Natural Sciences, National Museums of Canada, Series 1. (Ottawa, 1977)

The Glassy Sea by Marian Engel (Penguin Books, 1987)

Tobacco, Pipes and the Pleasures of Pipe Smoking
by Turmac Tabakmaatschappij Canada Limited. (Toronto, no date)

A Glossary of Literary Terms, 7th Edition
, by M.H. Abrams (Harcourt Brace College Publishers, 1999)

At least I can console myself with my staff discount. (And also the books!)

Sounds like a dangerous place to work. :)

Can you borrow any overnight? And/or install a cot between the aisles?

Yup. I'm hoping to resist at least some of the time. We'll see.

As to your oh-so-helpful suggestions, Polly, Kelly discourages sleeping on/at the job.

In fact, I think he'd discourage it with the tips of his steel toes.

For a short time in university i worked in a craft store. Some times I would take my wages in beads.
