Intended as a repository of photos, poems-in-progress, and news, The Jane Day Reader will blare and babble, bubble and squeak, semi-regularly.

horn
All photos Assiniboine Forest, Winnipeg, MB. October 19, 2008.
* * *
M, in his usual pose of walking ahead or standing close, holding my already-cool tea, dutifully wrinkled his nose when he caught a whiff of stinkhorn.
We scanned the grass and trembling aspen leaf-litter for the source of the reek and soon found a few erect - and a few flaccid - mushrooms.
M looked askance at them, took a slurp of his coffee, and said "do you really need another picture of stinkhorns?"
But he continued to walk on/hover nearby as I crouched down to take this shot, which makes me love him a little more. Or at least hate him a little less, which, in a long-term relationship, is almost the same thing.
Heh.

Good grief, that's almost mushy! What, are you going soft on us?
You take that back!
Make me!
Lovely pics, A!
