How to Help Your Child Accept a Second Marriage
He was meant to marry he was sure of it
but it took a week to air out her room
& the boys reek-smelled of her but wouldn’t let
him hold them even though the women
gestured them towards him
his stranger tears his eyes
all over them.

Here's one of my recent Edison poems, written from Thomas Alva Edison's point of view sometime after the death of his wife Mary Stillwell Edison in August 1884 and before his re-marriage to Mina Miller Edison in February 1886.
